The M1 Garand uses a gas port system to cycle the action, but existing 30-06 ammunition can burn too slow, causing the operating system to be driven harder and faster than intended. This new offering from Hornady is purpose built to provide accurate, safe and ultra reliable functioning for the M1 Garand.

The M1 Garand was the first general issue military semi-automatic rifle, and was widely used as a battle rifle from 1936 to 1963. Recently it has gained popularity with sporting and competition shooters, as have the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) John C. Garand rifle matches that only allow the use of the M1 Garand.
